We received your request for a memorial tree in Goodale Park. The preferred way that our Forestry team handles memorial tree requests is to ask the donor to contribute to the Tree Fund. The Tree Fund is an account that can only be used for activities associated with the planting of trees and tree care. For memorial plantings, they would try to honor the request of the location where you wanted to have the tree planted, however, there are several factors that may make your desired location unavailable for a new tree. It would be up to the arborist to make the decision about the viability of a tree where you are interested in having it planted. Memorial plaques are no longer available for newly planted trees. However our forestry team is able to provide you with the final placement location and species information for the tree that is planted in honor of your loved one.
If you are interested in contributing to the Tree Fund as a memorial, the address information is below. Checks need to be made payable to the City Treasurer, with Tree Fund written in the memo. If you have additional questions or requests, please reach out to our Forestry team at forestry@columbus.gov and they can assist.
